Marrakech – The Moroccan artistic community mourns the loss of acclaimed actress Saadia Louk, who passed away today, following a prolonged battle with illness.
Louk, a native of Marrakech, had been paralyzed and bedridden for the past two years due to her deteriorating health condition.
Throughout her career, Saadia Louk was known for her unique comedic roles and her distinct Marrakchi dialect.
She was one of the first women in Marrakech to enter the world of acting, making a name for herself through her vibrant performances in various television and cinema productions.
Her contributions to Moroccan drama were significant, as she enriched the industry with her memorable and diverse characters.
However, in her final years, Louk faced severe social and health challenges.
She lived in difficult circumstances in her home in the old medina of Marrakech, where she struggled with illness and isolation.
Despite her declining health, Louk’s daughter, who was responsible for her care, revealed in media statements that her mother did not receive adequate support from her fellow actors with whom she had collaborated on numerous projects.
Before her passing, many activists on social media platforms called upon the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, to intervene and assist the actress during her difficult times.
The activists emphasized that Louk had faced neglect and marginalization in her final years, despite her significant contributions to Moroccan art and culture.
