Rabat – The total number of inmates who passed the baccalaureate exams in both regular and retake sessions reached 898 inmates in the 2023-2024 academic season.
The numbers come from Morocco’s General Delegation for Prison Administration (DGAPR), who said in a statement today that the success rate in this season among inmates reached 64.19%, compared to 47.08% in 2023.
These figures mark an increase of 39% in the number of candidates who passed the exams compared to 2023.
A total of 514 inmates sat for the exam in the retake session in July. Inmates who passed the exam during the retake session reached 332 people, with a success rate of 64.59%.
DGAPR further added that 290 inmates received distinctions ranging from “good” to “very good” in both the regular and retake sessions.
Satisfied with the success rate, DGAPR emphasized the “excellent and unprecedented results” achieved by inmates during the exams.
The delegation also called for inmates to have continued perseverance and academic assignments to “attain further success in their educational and academic journeys.”
A total of 347,861 school-based candidates passed both regular and retake exams this year.
The retake session saw 126,870 candidates, both school-based and independent (home-schooled), sitting for the exams. Of these, 72,054 passed, achieving a success rate of 56.8%.
