Rabat – Africa Morocco Link (AML) has rolled out an expanded ferry service strategy in preparation for the anticipated influx of travelers returning to Morocco facilitated by the Marhaba 2024 operation.
Operation Marhaba is a support platform, spearheaded by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, dedicated to Moroccan diaspora as they arrive and depart from Morocco.
AML announced in a press release the introduction of a strengthened operational framework, featuring a new route designed to cater specifically to the requirements of their Moroccan clientele.
The company has allocated substantial resources to manage the Tanger Med-Algeciras and Tanger Ville-Tarifa maritime routes, boasting a daily capacity exceeding 30,000 passengers and 7,000 vehicles.
This summer, AML is operating the Tanger Ville-Tarifa route with two vessels: the “Morocco Express 1” and the “Maria Dolores,” each capable of accommodating 650 passengers and 70 vehicles. The route offers approximately twenty daily departures.
Meanwhile, the Tanger Med-Algeciras route is serviced by four vessels, including three conventional ships and one fast ferry.
These vessels accommodate between 750 and 1,200 passengers and carry 200 to 400 vehicles per trip, guaranteeing a robust schedule with 26 daily departures.

AML’s collaboration with CTM-Stena Line marks a vital turning point, aiming to solidify Morocco’s maritime capabilities and consolidate its position as a regional leader in passenger and freight.
To support the Marhaba 2024 operation and expand its service capabilities, AML’s shareholders have introduced a new action plan.
It includes fleet modernization, the launch of medium and long-distance routes, and advancements in customer-centric initiatives such as pricing strategies, digitalization, onboard amenities, and operational efficiency.
In another bid to bolster maritime expertise within Morocco, AML has partnered with the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies (ISEM).
The partnership, which includes a donation of MAD 3 million ($305 million), strives to cultivate local talent and reinforce the growth of Morocco’s maritime sector.
