Sleep Like Royalty: Discover Tangier's Best Stays

Marrakesh – Welcome to Tangier, a Moroccan gem that has attracted artists, writers, and wanderers for centuries.

But if you’re planning a rendezvous with this enchanting city, where should you stay?

Here are  5 hotels in Tangier that blend luxury, style, and a dash of that Tangier magic.

Grand Hotel Villa de France

This iconic hotel offers a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern luxury.

Originally built in the 19th century as the residence of a French diplomat, this grand establishment later transitioned into becoming a hotel.

It quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exclusive and luxurious hotels, attracting royalty and celebrities alike.

Notably, Henri Matisse painted “Landscape Seen from a Window” from one of its rooms.

A restoration project began in 2008, culminating in its grand reopening in the summer of 2014. Today, the hotel boasts 58 rooms and suites, accommodating up to 200 guests.

Room 35, where Matisse created his masterpiece, has been transformed into a museum.

El Minzah Hotel

The 5-star El Minzah Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Tangier, close to the old Medina. It features two swimming pools and a fitness center, and offers panoramic views of the bay.

The wellness center includes a sauna, hot tub, and hammam, and provides a variety of body and massage treatments.

Each air-conditioned room at El Minzah overlooks either the outdoor swimming pool, the sea, or the patio.

The hotel boasts two gastronomic restaurants serving both Moroccan and international cuisine, as well as a bar for guests to enjoy a drink.

El Minzah is just a short stroll from both the old medina and the beach.

Le Mirage

Just a 2-minute walk from the legendary Caves of Hercules, this ornate cliffside hotel is set on landscaped grounds along the Atlantic Ocean.

It is located 11 km from both Tangier Ibn Batouta Airport and the Royal Golf de Tanger club.

The grand suites feature furnished terraces with ocean views,  and some suites offer marble floors and luxurious bathrooms. Swanky villas come with private pools. Room service is available.

Amenities include an outdoor pool, stair access to the shore, a ritzy restaurant, a gym, and a terrace, all offering ocean views. There’s also a plush piano bar with regular live music.

Palais Zahia

Located in a traditional riad in the Petit Socco district of the Medina, this refined hotel is just a 4-minute walk from the vibrant Grand Socco market square and a 7-minute walk from the Dar el Makhzen palace and museum.

It is a great place for travelers as the Tangier Ferry Terminal is only 2 km away.

The colorful, individually styled rooms are adorned with ornate traditional furnishings and decor, while the hotel’s suites feature sitting areas for added comfort.

Guests can enjoy classic regional cuisine at the relaxed restaurant. The hotel also offers yoga classes, guided city tours, and quad-bike riding.

Mnar Castle

Traveling with family or just love the idea of a home away from home?

Mnar Castle offers spacious, elegantly furnished apartments with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

Located a bit away from the hustle and bustle, it provides a serene retreat with stunning views of the coast and easy access to the beach.

Bon sejour!

Tangier is a city that promises adventure, romance, and a touch of the exotic.

Your stay will be as unforgettable as the city itself. So pack your bags, book your room, and get ready to fall in love with Tangier.
