Rabat – Morocco condemned today a shooting that claimed the lives of at least six people and wounded 30 others on Tuesday.
“The Kingdom of Morocco condemns the shooting that took place near a mosque in the Al Wadi Al Kabir region, Sultanate of Oman, which resulted in several deaths and injuries,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on X.
The ministry also reaffirmed its solidarity with Oman in all measures taken to maintain security and stability for both citizens and residents of the Gulf country.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack on Tuesday.
The attack, which was a rare act of violence in the Gulf country, sparked international uproar and an outpouring of condemnations.
The Arab Parliament strongly condemned the shooting incident, denouncing it as reprehensible.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi also strongly condemned the shooting, describing it as a heinous criminal act that contradicts the principles of Islam and human as well as moral values.
The UAE also condemned the attack, describing it as a criminal act.
In a statement, the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it rejects all forms of violence aimed at undermining security and stability and endangering the lives of the population.
“The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of the Sultanate of Oman, and to the families of the victims of this heinous crime, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured,” the statement concluded.
