Rabat – The International Storytelling Festival organized on Friday a visit to the historical grounds of the Mohammed V Mausoleum in Rabat as part of its efforts to promote Morocco’s cultural heritage.
The Mausoleum of Mohammed V contains the tombs of the Moroccan king Mohammed V and his two sons, the late King Hassan II and Prince Moulay Abdallah.
This tour is part of the annual Morocco International Storytelling Festival, which celebrates the art of narrative and contributes to preserving oral traditions from the past while connecting them with the present.
Scheduled between July 1 and July 8, the event aims to promote Morocco’s oral tradition as a pillar of the country’s intangible heritage.

Participants from different corners of the world took part in the tour dressed in traditional attire that reflected their respective cultures.
In an interview with Morocco World News, Khaoula Baklouti, a storyteller from Tunisia, expressed her intention to explore and deepen her understanding of Morocco’s heritage.
“I am here today to take a little tour in the mausoleum, to learn more about Morocco and its rich legacy. It’s inspiring for me as a storyteller, blending innovation with international heritage,” Baklouti stated.
The tour was inscribed in the revered golden book of the mausoleum, a symbolic gesture.

The tour was graced by the presence of Abdelhak Lamrini, Morocco’s historian, writer, and curator of the Mausoleum Mohammed V.
Lamrini’s hospitality and warm welcome reflected the event’s mission to honor tradition while embracing the future of storytelling.

Najima Rhozalie Thay Thay, Najima Thay Thay Rhozali, President of the International Academy for Intangible Cultural Heritage was also present during the mausoleum visit.
Both Lamrini and Thay Thay led the recitation of Al Fatiha at the resting places of the Moroccan monarchs, Mohammed V, and Hassan II.

Participants, deeply moved by the solemnity of the occasion, joined Lamrini and Thay Thay in reciting Al Fatiha at the tombs of the monarchs.
