Today in Essaouira, Huawei celebrated its Seeds for the Future 2024 initiative, an event held with the aim of strengthening and empowering youth technological capabilities and skills.
The program seeks to promote digitalization across Africa, with a focus on training and preparing the next generation of digital leaders.
Jeremy Lin, Executive Vice President of Huawei Huawei Northern Africa emphasized Huawei’s commitment to continue to place training at the heart of digital development in Africa.
“We are very pleased to organize this event, the first in the region, and eager to support these talents throughout this training week by providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to become true ambassadors of digitalization on the continent,” Lin emphasized.

Nabil Ouchagour, Chief Brand Officer at Huawei Morocco, emphasized that today’s event gathered together dozens of students from 15 African countries.
He shared with Morocco World News (MWN) his insights on the program, and its dual purpose of fostering knowledge sharing among participants, as well as propelling their advancement within the industry.
The event’s agenda includes different activities, including an AI workshop, training, 5G, and cloud computing.
The event also serves as an opportunity for participants to work on innovative projects and develop technological solutions with the aim of helping their communities.
In an interview with MWN, Lamiae Benmakhlouf, Director General of Technopark (MITC), stressed the role of Africa’s youth in driving the continent’s development agenda.
She pointed to the critical need to sensitize young people to innovation, creativity, and resilience, highlighting the event as a platform to inspire and equip youth with digital tools essential for transforming ideas into impactful solutions.
Seeds for the Future
“Our continent is brimming with talent. Today, there are 400 million youth under the age of 35, and this number will double by 2050. Therefore, we all must be aware of the need to sensitize this youth to employability, innovation, creativity, and resilience, and to show them that in the face of every continental challenge, there are opportunities, and solutions, and there is nothing better today than digital technology to create innovative solutions, establish businesses that will create jobs and added value for our continent,” she said.
Beneficiary from the program Abdessamad Ait El Moudem echoed the same sentiment, noting that he is participating in the event in Essaouira to talk about his experience with the Seeds for the Future program.
“I participated last year and all I can say is that it was an inspiring experience, an experience that gathered students to inspire them to think about how they can use their technological skills to solve problems that we face in our society,” he said.
Seeds for the Future by Huawei selects youth from around the world to participate in trainings, global competitions and alumni activities focusing on technology and digitalization.
This program aspires to provide youth with a platform to explore industry innovation as well as cross-cultural exchanges.
