Rabat – Hassan Laaziri became the new president of the Moroccan Association of Capital Investors (AMIC) following a unanimous vote from the newly-appointed board of directors last week.

The announcement comes after AMIC’s General Assembly convened on June 27, 2024.

AMIC is an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the development of private equity and venture capital in Morocco.

Currently serving as the Managing Director of CDG Invest Growth, Laaziri brings over two decades of experience in the capital investment landscape.

His career began in the industrial sector and later transitioned into fund management at CDG Invest Growth in 2001.

During his acceptance speech, Laaziri expressed gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him, emphasizing the critical role of private equity in bolstering Morocco’s economic framework.

“I thank the AMIC board members for electing me as President of our association. This renewed trust is both a great honor and a significant responsibility,” he said during his acceptance speech.

He detailed ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing regulatory conditions for debt funds and operationalizing venture capital from the Mohammed VI Investment Fund.

Under Laaziri’s leadership, AMIC aims to foster growth within its membership base, advocating for best practices and nurturing a conducive environment for investment across diverse sectors.

Laaziri’s vision includes consolidating AMIC’s position as a leader in promoting capital investment penetration in Morocco, aligning closely with stakeholders such as the Moroccan Capital Market Authority and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

With the new appointment, Laaziri is succeeding Hatim Ben Ahmed. In his parting remarks, Ben Ahmed commended Laaziri’s appointment and pledged continued support as an administrative member of the association.

AMIC’s new executive committee features veteran professionals like Vice-President Tarik Haddi and Treasurer Khaoula Ramdi.
