Marrakesh – Franco-Malian artist and designer Emile-Samory Fofana has teamed up with Adidas for his debut collaboration with the iconic “Three Stripes”, a trademark of the sports brand.

Together, they’ve created a “functional football qamis” that’s turning heads in both the world of Arab and Muslim fashion as well as sports.

The all-white qamis, adorned with gold Adidas accents, is designed to deliver ultimate comfort, whether you’re on the pitch or at the mosque in prayer.

This thoughtful creation has been a year in the making, ensuring every detail meets the high standards of both functionality and style.

The general release of the Adidas Football qamis remains uncertain, but Fofana has already disclosed that the first drop will be exclusively for friends and family.

On social media, the news has drawn mixed reactions from Moroccan users.

While some claim that the outfit” mocks the Islamic religion”, others have responded with humor and sarcasm.

In a humorous twist, one X user sarcastically posted: “With Adidas, play football. When it’s time to pray, go pray,” cleverly poking fun at the dual functionality of the outfit for both sports and religious observance.

“Ramadan tournaments sponsored by Adidas,” quipped another user sarcastically, alluding to the tradition of playing football before Iftar during Ramadan in Morocco.

Fofana has dedicated much of his creative career to documenting and celebrating the intersection of West African culture and his Muslim religion with European football.

In 2022, he transformed kits from clubs such as Chelsea and PSG into stylish full-length Islamic garments.
