Marrakech – Today, TIME magazine dropped its anticipated sixth edition of the World’s Greatest Places List, spotlighting 100 must-visit destinations across the globe.

From eco-friendly innovations to immersive cultural escapades, this year’s picks redefine what it means to stay and explore.

In a win for the country’s notoriety, the Moroccan Culinary Arts Museum also made the cut. This gem has been handpicked as one of the world’s greatest places, putting Moroccan culture on the global stage in a big way.

Claiming the title of Morocco’s “first of its kind,” this expansive riad museum, which debuted in late 2019, is a must-visit for food enthusiasts in Marrakech.

Spanning three floors, the museum showcases local cuisine in dedicated sections, from soups and pastries to street food.

Its exhibits, which are uniquely presented in English, bring Morocco’s rich culinary history and culture vividly to life.

To create this list, TIME tapped its global network of correspondents and contributors, alongside a rigorous application process, seeking out hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, and more.

The goal? To spotlight the best and most thrilling experiences around the world.

Alongside the Moroccan Culinary Arts Museum, the 2024 TIME World’s Greatest Places List features some other standout African destinations that are redefining travel on the continent.

TIME magazine’s top places for Africa

In the Republic of the Congo, TIME highlights the “Kamba African Rainforest Experiences” in Odzala-Kokoua National Park, which offers guests an immersive journey into one of the world’s most pristine rainforests.

Additionally, TIME recommends Kenya’s Angama Amboseli private safari lodge at Kimana Sanctuary, which reportedly promises unparalleled views and wildlife encounters.

Over in the southernmost part of the continent,  South  Africa,  the magazine asserts that the Magugu House in Johannesburg, home to the fashion creations of Thebe Magugu, stands out as a vibrant hub of creativity and culture.

These remarkable spots are making waves and setting the stage for unforgettable adventures across Africa.

In the reveal of their list, TIME editors shared their experience in creating this year’s top picks. “While last year’s list featured 50 cities, this year we decided to explore even more – and more specifically – establishments that stand out in their field and the world. The result: 100 extraordinary destinations to visit and stay this year.”

TIME’s top picks around the globe
