Rabat – Walid Cheddira has officially joined RCD Espanyol de Barcelona on a season-long loan from SSC Napoli.
The announcement was made today via the club’s social media channels.
Cheddira, one of the Atlas Lions, will stay with the Catalan club until June 2025.
According to reports, this morning Cheddira completed his medical examination and finalized the last details of his contract with Espanyol de Barcelona.
The Moroccan international brings with him a wealth of experience from Italian football. He began his career at CS Loreto AD and later made a move to Parma in 2019.
He was loaned out to several teams, including SS Arezzo, Lecco, Mantova, and Bari, where he eventually secured a permanent transfer.
In 2023, Cheddira was transferred to SSC Napoli, who subsequently loaned him to Frosinone Calcio.
During his time with Frosinone, he scored 7 goals and provided 1 assist in 36 league appearances.

He made his debut in the 2–0 win over Chile, coming on as a second-half substitute.
In November 2022, Cheddira was included in Morocco’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
He made his tournament debut as an 82nd-minute substitute in the Round of 16 match against Spain, which Morocco won on penalties after a 0–0 draw.
In the quarter-final against Portugal, Cheddira entered in the 65th minute but was sent off with two yellow cards during stoppage time, although Morocco secured a 1–0 victory.
