Rabat- The High Planning Commission (HCP) has announced the launch of the third phase of in-person training for the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH), scheduled from August 15 to 27.
This phase is the final step before the household data collection operation for the 2024 RGPH, which will run from September 1 to 30.
According to the HCP’s press release, this training phase will involve 53,800 participants, including 41,300 enumerators (18,300 of whom are women), 11,500 controllers (1,700 of whom are women), and 1,000 communal supervisors (200 of whom are women).
The press release also highlights that 59.3% of participants are graduates and students, with 17% holding education levels equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree.
Additionally, 31.9% are teachers, 5.2% are civil servants, 1.5% are HCP employees, 1.8% are private sector workers, and 0.3% are retired civil servants.
According to data provided by the High Commission for Planning, out of the 500,000 applications received, only 200,000 candidates were selected based on the commission’s training capacity.
The selection process was conducted automatically, taking into account educational level and professional experience, while considering the needs of the census operations.
On June 20, King Mohammed VI issued directives highlighting the significance of the upcoming 7th General Population and Housing Census, set for later this year.
In a detailed communication to Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, the King underscored the crucial role this national census will play in shaping informed policies at both the national and local levels.
