Rabat – Sound Energy, the UK-based transition energy company, announced today that it will resume gas workover operations in Tendrara.
This follows the company’s update from June 25 this year.
The focus will now be on the gas well TE-7, according to the company’s statement, as preparations continue for its long-term production into the micro-LNG plant being constructed on site.
The work will also involve running new completion tubing into TE-7 using the Star Valley Rig 101, which has been stationed at the Tendrara Production Concession at no extra cost to the Group while waiting for additional wellhead equipment.
In June, the company successfully removed the existing completion tubing from both TE-6 and TE-7 and then installed new corrosion-resistant completing tubing in TE-6.
Once the additional well surface equipment is imported, a similar operation will be carried out at TE-7.

The gas development plan for the Tendrara exploitation project is designed in two phases.
The first phase, currently under construction, aims to produce 100 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually starting in mid-2025.
This phase will involve the installation of on-site gas treatment, liquefaction, and storage facilities, intended to meet the needs of national industrial consumers.
The second phase, which is currently in the feasibility study stage, includes plans for building a processing unit and a pipeline connecting to the Maghreb-Europe Gas (GME) pipeline.
In 2022, Sound Energy announced an agreement with Morocco’s Hydrocarbons and Mines Office (ONHYM) concerning the GME project.
The agreement, which pertains to the second phase of the Tendrara project, involves ONHYM’s approval for connecting the Tendrara Production Concession to the Maghreb-Europe pipeline through a gas export spur pipeline.
The pipeline will run along the West African coast from Nigeria through 13 African countries, connecting to the European market via Spain, and is expected to supply 280 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
The GME also promises considerable economic benefits such as job creation and industrial development, positioning Morocco as a pioneer in green hydrogen.
The Tendrara Production Concession project was officialized in September 2018 and is located for access to the GME pipeline approximately 120 kilometers to the North.
