Rabat – A massive fire broke out yesterday at the Larbaa market in the Sbaata district of Casablanca.
Reports indicate that the fire inflicted significant damage, destroying approximately 24 shops. However, the cause of the blaze is still unknown.
Local authorities and police swiftly arrived at the scene, securing the area and restricting access to prevent further risks.
The civil protection services responded by sending six fire trucks to the scene to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to other areas.
A judicial investigation has been launched under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office, to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Videos circulating on social media depict the market ablaze, with firefighters working to control the flames and prevent further damage.

Morocco has experienced a troubling number of fire incidents this year.
In June this year, four people died while 26 others sustained injuries following a similar devastating fire that erupted at the Debbagh shopping complex in the Bab Ftouh area of Fez’s ancient medina.
Among the injured, ten suffered burns of varying degrees, three of whom resulted in critical condition, while 16 others experienced mild asphyxia symptoms from smoke inhalation.
Initial investigations suggested that a short circuit, possibly related to repair work within the Debbagh shopping complex, may have been the reason behind the fire’s ignition.
