Marrakech – Moroccan track and field star Noura Ennadi has secured a spot in the semifinals of the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The 25-year-old athlete finished second in her heat with a time of 55.26 seconds, behind the reigning Olympic champion and world record holder, American Sydney McLaughlin.
Ennadi, born on April 5, 1999, has established herself as a prominent figure in Moroccan athletics.
Her career highlights include winning gold in the 400m hurdles at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkiye, and bronze at the 2022 African Championships in Mauritius. She also claimed silver at the 2023 African Games in Accra.
In addition to her success at the African level, Ennadi has made her mark in other international competitions.
She has earned multiple medals at the Mediterranean Games and the Francophone Games, including gold in the 400m hurdles at the 2023 Francophone Games in Kinshasa.
Her personal best in the event stands at 54.37 seconds, achieved in Madrid in 2023.
Ennadi’s versatility extends beyond the 400m hurdles, as she has also competed in the 100m hurdles and the 4x400m relays.
She has consistently ranked among the top athletes in Morocco and competed in the 2023 World Athletics Championships, where she advanced to the semifinals.
The semifinals of the women’s 400m hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympics are scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, at 7 p.m. local time.
As of now, no Moroccan athlete has secured an Olympic medal in the ongoing Games, but hopes remain high as the competitions continue.
