Rabat – The quarter-finals of the men’s football tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics will see Egypt take on Paraguay today at 6 PM GMT+1. The game will take place at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.
Both Egypt and Paraguay secured their places in the knockout stages by winning their final group games. Egypt topped Group C after a 2-1 victory against Spain, with Ibrahim Adel scoring twice.
This followed a 1-0 win over Uzbekistan, where Ahmed Nabil Koka scored the decisive goal. Egypt’s journey to the quarter-finals began with a goalless draw against the Dominican Republic. The team is aiming for their first-ever football medal at the Olympics.
Paraguay, on the other hand, overcame a challenging start where they suffered a 5-0 defeat to Japan. They bounced back with a 4-2 win over Israel and a narrow 1-0 victory against Mali, secured by an early goal from Marcelo Fernandez.
The team is set to rely on the form of Fernandez, who has scored three goals in the last two games. The team will also look to Julio Enciso and Marcelo Perez for offensive support.
Egypt, with their solid attacking form, are favorites going into this quarter-final match. Their momentum from the group stages is expected to continue, potentially leading them to a decisive victory over Paraguay, whose defense has shown vulnerabilities by conceding seven goals during the group stage.
