Rabat – Brahim Diaz clinched the UEFA Super Cup for Real Madrid with a 2-0 win against Atalanta Bergamasca yesterday.
This victory puts Diaz in the company of a few Moroccan players who have earned this title before, such as Achraf Hakimi, Munir El Haddadi, and Hakim Ziyech.
Since rejoining Real Madrid, Diaz has been on a winning streak. His impressive collection now features La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de España, the UEFA Champions League, and, most recently, the UEFA Super Cup.
With this latest triumph, Diaz becomes the fourth Moroccan to capture the continental title, joining compatriots Hakimi, El Haddadi, and Ziyech.
On January 27, 2023, it was announced that Brahim intended to switch his national allegiance to Morocco.
By October 2023, Marca revealed that he had confirmed this decision, although some administrative details related to his nationality were still being finalized. Despite this, Brahim was not included in the Morocco squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to prior agreements.
On March 10, 2024, Marca reported that Brahim had officially notified the Royal Moroccan Football Federation of his switch to their national team.
Three days later, he was called up by coach Walid Regragui for upcoming matches against Angola and Mauritania. Brahim made his debut on March 22, contributing to a 1–0 victory over Angola.

Achraf Hakimi accomplished this at just 17 years old while playing for Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane in 2017. Munir El Haddadi won the Super Cup in 2015 with FC Barcelona, managed by Luis Enrique. Hakim Ziyech secured the title in 2021 with Chelsea, under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel.
Diaz, who came on in the second half of the final against Atalanta, replacing teammate Kylian Mbappé, has now amassed 11 career titles, with six coming during his time with the Merengues.
Last season Diaz featured in 44 matches for Real Madrid, contributing 12 goals and 9 assists across all competitions.
He began his club career at his hometown club Malaga, before moving to Manchester City in 2015.
In 2023, Real Madrid announced Diaz’s return from a three-season loan at AC Milan, and upon his return, he signed a contract extension with the club until June 2027.
