Rabat– Thunderstorms in the Tata region have left the city of Tata completely isolated, with no means of entry or exit as of this report. The area is experiencing unprecedented rainfall, overwhelming its valleys and ravines.
According to SNRT, a source from the Ministry of Equipment and Water stated that the Tata Valley, which splits the city, is currently facing record levels of rainwater, further severing connections with surrounding areas.
The heavy storms have led to the closure of both regional and national roads due to flooding, prompting local and regional authorities to respond to the crisis.
Similar conditions have been reported in the nearby regions of Tinghir, Zagora, and Ouarzazate, where several roads, including National Road No. 9 and National Road No. 10, as well as regional roads No. 108, No. 704, and No. 1520, have been disrupted.
The Ministry of Equipment and local authorities are mobilizing all available resources to restore access and alleviate the isolation.
As a result of the flooding, a passenger bus traveling from Tan-Tan to Tata became trapped in flash floods at the “Ouaogrout” bridge at the entrance to the city.
Local sources reported that the bus became stranded after attempting to cross the flooded bridge, veering off course and becoming submerged in rising waters.
The heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding in Tata, submerging major bridges and cutting off access to several areas. Emergency services are working tirelessly to rescue passengers from the trapped bus and address the broader flooding situation.
Due to road closures, the situation in rural communities remains uncertain. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating rescue efforts.
