Rabat – Morocco’s international football star Hakim Ziyech has sustained a knee injury that will leave him off the pitch for three weeks.
Sports news outlet beIN Sports quoted a statement from the Turkish football club Galatasaray, announcing Ziyech’ injury.
“In the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers match where the Moroccan National Team played against Lesotho, our player Hakim Ziyech, who felt pain in his upper right posterior muscle, was examined at our sponsor hospital, Medicana,” Galatasaray reported.
The medical examination showed that Ziyech’s injury is a “grade 2 (including bleeding and partial tear) in the upper right posterior muscle group,” the statement added.
While Ziyech’ treatment continues, he is expected to stay off of the football pitch for three weeks.
Ziyech is one of Morocco’s top football stars, having played with the Atlas Lions in both their recent AFCON qualifiers against Gabon and Lesotho.
Morocco was victorious for both matches, the first 4-1 and second 1-0.
Amid the injury, rumors have begun to swirl earlier this week suggesting that the Moroccan football player might be on the verge of exiting Galatasaray.
The speculation came after Ziyech recently deleted all photos relating to the Turkish club on his Instagram.
