The Ministry of Equipment has urged road and highway users in Morocco to exercise caution and vigilance amid weather alerts, forecasting very heavy thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds, starting Friday.
The ministry said that low visibility or even the absence of visibility is anticipated under the predicted weather conditions.
The ministry’s warning comes after the weather directorate said on Thursday that rainfall producing 70 to 120 millimeters is expected in several provinces from Friday to Sunday.
The provinces concerned include Zagora, Tinghir, Errachidia, Ouarzazate, and Tata.
Showers of 30 to 70 millimeters are forecasted to hit the provinces of Assa Zag, Taroudant, Midelt, and Es-Semara as well as Figuig, Azilal, Chtouka Ait Baha Tiznit, Al Haouz, Guelmim and Sidi Ifni.
On Friday, a new weather alert said that heavy thunderstorms will reach between 80 to 150 millimeters in some provinces, including those aforementioned.
The weather conditions are forecasted to start today starting at 4 p.m., covering the provinces of Zagora, Tinghir, Errachidia, Ouarzazate, and Tata.
ABout 60 to 90 millimeters showers will hit Assa Zag, and E-Semara from Saturday morning until 11 p.m.
Moderate rainfall of 30 to 60 millimeters will affect the provinces of Figuig, Taroudant, Midelt, Azilal, and Al Haouz, from Friday at 4 p.m. to Sunday at 11 p.m., as well as the provinces of Guelmim, Sidi Ifni and Tiznit.
