Rabat — Futsal fans, particularly Moroccans and Brazilians, eagerly await the decisive match as Morocco and Brazil face off in the quarterfinals of the ongoing World Cup in Uzbekistan.

The match will take place today at the Bukhara Universal Sports Complex at 1:30 Moroccan time. In Brazil, the game kick-off will kick off early at 9:30 a.m. local time, while in Uzbekistan, it will be 5:30 p.m.

Moroccan television channel Arriyadia will broadcast the game.

Morocco’s futsal champions are fully entrusted by both their fans and coach Hicham Dguig to rise to the challenge against Brazil, the top futsal team in the world.

FIFA’s first-ever Futsal Ranking, released earlier this year, ranks Brazil as number one.

The ranking, set to be updated in October, also places Morocco among the world’s best futsal teams, with the Atlas Lions ranked sixth.

On Saturday, Dguig said that the key factors that could help the Atlas Lions secure a win in the quarterfinal are displaying a fighting spirit on the field as well as self-confidence.

“Technical skills alone won’t be enough in this match. We also need fighting spirit on the field, solid defensive organization, and confidence,” he told the press.

To date, Morocco only lost one game as part of the Futsal World Cup competition against Portugal during the last stage group match.

The North African country kicked off its journey in the competition with a good start, triumphing against Tajikistan and Panama in the first phase, and additionally putting Iran out of the tournament in the Round of 16.

Moroccans are eager to see their Atlas Lions building on their momentum and clinching another historic win against the world’s best — Brazil.
