Doha – The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has nominated Hussein Ammouta, the current head coach of UAE’s Al Jazira Club and former manager of the Jordan national team, for the “Best Coach in the World” award for 2024.
Ammouta was selected by the IFFHS among the nominees for the prestigious award, as reported by SNRTnews. His selection was reportedly in recognition of his historic achievement with the Jordan national team, leading them to their first-ever Asian Cup final.
Hussein Ammouta managed the Jordan national team from June 2023 to June 2024, guiding them to the Asian Cup final, where they lost 3-1 to Qatar.
Ammouta faces competition for the award from prominent coaches, including Luis de la Fuente (Spain), Didier Deschamps (France), Lionel Scaloni (Argentina), among others.
On July 8, Al Jazira announced the appointment of Hussein Ammouta as their head coach until 2026, following his departure from the Jordan national team by mutual consent in June.
The 55-year-old Moroccan coach boasts an impressive resume, having achieved notable successes with clubs and national teams across Asia and Africa.
His accomplishments include leading Qatar’s Al-Sadd to the league title in 2012-2013, domestic cups in 2014 and 2015, and the Sheikh Jassim Cup in 2014.
Ammouta also guided Morocco’s Wydad AC to the Moroccan league title in 2016 and the CAF Champions League crown the following season.
Moreover, Ammouta has previously led Morocco’s FUS Rabat to the domestic cup and CAF Confederation Cup in 2010, and most recently, he steered the FAR Rabat to the Moroccan league title last season.
In addition to his club achievements, Ammouta also guided his home country to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) title in 2020.
