Despite the new ranking, Morocco’s Atlas Lions made a satisfying and  stellar performance at the recent futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan.

Despite the defeat, the national team under coach Hicham Dguig won significant support from both fans and experts, who lauded the Atlas Lions’ performances.

In the new ranking published today by FIFA, Brazil dominates the list.

“Brazil’s conquering of the FIFA Futsal World Cup has crystalilised their position atop the FIFA Futsal Men’s World Ranking,” FIFA wrote,.

Portugal comes second in the ranking, followed by Argentina, Spain, Kazakhstan, Iran, Morocco, and Russia.

Ukraine is the ninth in the list followed by France.

After his team’s defeat by Brazil in the quarter-finals, coach Dguig expressed pride in the Atlas Lions performance, noting that his squad delivered an excellent performance against the opponent.

“We dominated the second half, but certain details let us down, and we need to work on that.m” Dguig said in a post-match declaration, noting that .

“He said the game against Brazil was the Atlas Lions’ best in the World Cup.

“Brazil had multiple player options, and we couldn’t maintain the same pace,” the coach deplored. “We would have preferred to face the Brazilian team at a more advanced stage of the competition.”
