Rabat – King Mohammed VI will chair the opening of the first session of the 4th legislative year of the 11th Moroccan Legislature on Friday, a statement from the Ministry of the Royal Household announced today.
The monarch will deliver a speech before the members of both chambers of the Moroccan parliament, and the speech will be broadcasted on radio and television starting at 4:40 p.m. local time.
Traditionally, the monarch opens the new legislative every second Friday of the month of October.
Members of Parliament are required to wear traditional dress in accordance with the rules of procedure of both the House of Councillors and the House of Representatives.
In his speech last year’s speech, the King spoke of different challenges, including the tragic earthquake that struck the Al Haouz region on September 8, 2023. He commended the solidarity efforts thatMoroccans showed to help those affected in different capacities. Many volunteers have flocked to the affected areas, donating food, equipment, cloths, and blankets to assist families in need.
On the topic of tolerance, the monarch also commended Morocco’s leadership as a model of coexistence between Muslims, Christians and Jews.
“Ours is a country in which other faiths and cultures are duly respected,” the King said, noting that the national values underpinning the Moroccan nation are based on the monarchy.
