Rabat – Lebanon’s Health Ministry has reported that more than 2,000 people have been killed over the past year as a result of Israeli attacks across the country, including 127 children.

Israel’s deadly attacks on Lebanon, which escalated last month, has displaced over a million people, including many migrant domestic workers who say they feel abandoned amid the relentless violence.

The southern regions of Lebanon have been particularly affected by Israeli airstrikes. According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), a female Red Cross volunteer from Baalbek died today after sustaining a head wound during one such airstrike.

The NNA also reported additional strikes this afternoon, including a drone attack on a house in Zawtar, eastern Lebanon, where initial reports indicate three people were killed. Two others died in a bombing in Nabatieh, while another strike in Tyre’s Majdal Silm killed one person and injured another.

Israel has also intensified its assaults on Beirut’s southern suburbs as Hezbollah continues to retaliate with strikes on Israeli targets. The group claimed responsibility for an attack on a Merkava tank and a missile launch at a military base near Haifa.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces are reportedly preparing for a large-scale assault on multiple fronts, in response to Iran’s launch of ballistic missiles against Israel.

According to Israeli media, the planned offensive is expected to be “significant and difficult” and Israel’s Western allies are expected to join in.

General Michael Kurilla, the head of the US military in the region, is set to arrive in Israel today to discuss the evolving situation and coordinate efforts for the anticipated escalation.
