Rabat – Morocco is celebrating today the birthday of Princess Lalla Hasnaa, a key member of the Royal Family who has made significant contributions to environmental protection and cultural preservation.
As the President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, Princess Lalla Hasnaa has shown strong dedication to promoting environmental awareness and global cooperation on climate issues.
In December 2023, Princess Lalla Hasnaa represented King Mohammed VI at the World Climate Action Summit during COP28 in Dubai. She visited key exhibitions, including Morocco’s pavilion, and participated in a UNESCO meeting on green education.
Beyond her environmental work, Princess Lalla Hasnaa has played an important role in cultural and diplomatic efforts. In February, she joined Princesses Lalla Meryem and Lalla Asmaa for a lunch at the Élysée Palace hosted by Brigitte Macron.
In May 2024, she inaugurated the renovated Lahboul Park in Meknes and opened the 27th Fez Festival of World Sacred Music.
This year, Princess Lalla Hasnaa led several major events. In October, she chaired a meeting for the Foundation for Safeguarding Rabat’s Cultural Heritage. She also led the Longines Global Champions Tour in Rabat, marking the first time this equestrian event was held in Africa.
Later, she co-hosted the Fashion Trust Arabia gala in Marrakech with Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Al Thani as part of the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year.
On October 29, the Princess welcomed French First Lady Brigitte Macron to Rabat, where they visited the city’s Botanical Testing Garden and inaugurated the Royal Theater. That evening, King Mohammed VI hosted a royal dinner for President Emmanuel Macron and his wife.
In November, she and Sheikha Al Mayassa inaugurated the Moroccan pavilion “Dar Al Maghrib” in Doha to showcase Morocco’s culture and history.
