Authorities in the UAE have taken swift action against an Algerian food truck owner in Dubai who displayed an incomplete Moroccan map, excluding its southern provinces in Western Sahara.
Converging reports said the truck owner showed an incomplete Moroccan map on his food truck near the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, prompting a complaint that Moroccan residents filed .
The complaint requested that the merchant correct the mistake. In response, Emirati authorities forced the merchant to remove the altered map from his truck.
Mohammed Taqi, a local journalist, responded to the controversy, saying that the UAE has rejected the politicization of any issue on its soil through slogans, drawings, and other means.
“Its political positions are clear towards countries and peoples through its official platforms. Welcome to the Moroccan and Algerian people on the land of the UAE, a country of tolerance, ecoexistence, and harmony,” the journalist wrote on X on Monday.

The UAE is part of the countries that support Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces in Western Sahara.
In 2020, the Gulf country officially opened its consulate general in the southern Moroccan city of Laayoune, cementing its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
The move made the UAE the first Arab country to open a diplomatic representation in the region; Jordan joined the fray shortly after.
The two countries share good diplomatic ties, with UAE frequently recalling its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces.
In October this year, the country emphasized its steadfast approach.
“We stand with brotherly Morocco in its just cause to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity,” the country’s UN representative said at the UN General Assembly 4th Committee.
The Emirati diplomat also reiterated support for the Moroccan autonomy plan, describing it as the most serious and credible path to lasting peace and stability in the disputed region.
The truck owner’s act aligned with Algeria’s regime position, with that country having long sought to undermine Morocco’s territorial integrity.
For years, the Algerian regime has hosted, financed, armed, and supported the Polisario Front in its separatist war on southern Morocco.
