Rabat — China’s ambassador to Morocco recently acknowledged the significance of President Xi Jinping’s visit to Morocco on November 21, describing it as a pivotal moment for strengthening bilateral ties.

According to Ambassador Li, the visit will bring a “new dynamic” to the relationship between China and Morocco, further diversifying their cooperation across political, economic, and cultural sectors.

The Chinese president made a brief visit to Casablanca, where Morocco’s Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan welcomed him earlier this week.

The brief visit served the two countries to reiterate their determination to work together to strengthen bilateral ties at all levels.

In his interview with Le360, the ambassador said that both the president and Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan expressed a shared interest in increasing cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The Moroccan Crown Prince, according to the ambassador, expressed “great interest in the Chinese language.”

Li said the discussions also focused on “exploring new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.”

The Chinese President landed in Morocco after participating in the 31st edition of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and the 2024 G20 Summit.

Morocco and China share strong diplomatic ties, with the two countries working together at all levels.

According to data shared by Morocco’s Ministry of Trade in 2018, the two countries’  shared trade volume totaled MAD 39.5 billion in 2016.

This represents an average yearly increase of 18.2% since 2001.

In 2016, Chinese direct foreign investment reached MAD 362.5  million and amounted to MAD 582.4 million for the first six months in 2017.

He also asserted China’s support for Morocco in maintaining its stability and security, saying that there ise “solidarity between the two countries” on key global issues.

During his visit to Morocco,President Xi said his country  is ready to continue working with Morocco to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

China is committed to advancing practical cooperation in various sectors under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the president added, acknowledging Morocco’s stability and national security efforts.

He also pledged China’s  support and  urged for expanded cultural and people-to-people exchanges to foster deeper ties between the citizens of both countries.
