Rabat – With Donald Trump’s return to the White House now a done deal, one of his most prominent supporters, Elon Musk, might stand to gain from the historic political shift.
Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, not only backed Trump during the campaign but also played a pivotal role in mobilizing support, both financially and strategically, across key battleground states.
On election night, Musk joined Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida as votes rolled in, signaling his alignment with Trump’s vision. As victory seemed likely, Musk shared his support on the social media platform X, writing that “the people of America gave @realDonaldTrump a crystal clear mandate for change tonight.”
The connection between the two was highlighted during Trump’s victory speech, where he praised Musk and highlighted SpaceX’s recent achievements, including successful rocket launches.
Musk’s support for Trump intensified following a July assassination attempt on the former president in Butler, Pennsylvania.
As a show of loyalty, Musk donated over $119 million to a Trump-affiliated Super PAC and spearheaded a high-profile get-out-the-vote campaign, which included a daily $1 million giveaway in critical states—a move that sparked legal scrutiny but ultimately proceeded with court approval.
Trump’s second presidency could translate into unprecedented opportunities for Musk. The president-elect has expressed interest in establishing a “Department of Government Efficiency,” humorously dubbed “DOGE” after the meme-inspired cryptocurrency Musk has famously promoted.

Trump has suggested Musk would be instrumental in overseeing this department to curb government waste, a project Musk has publicly praised.
Musk’s businesses also stand to benefit from a second Trump administration. SpaceX, already a primary player in launching government satellites, could expand its reach with an ally in the White House.
Additionally, Musk’s criticism of traditional defense contractors, such as Boeing, aligns with his push for more efficient government spending, a potential focus in Trump’s policy agenda.
Tesla, Musk’s electric vehicle company, could also benefit significantly from Trump’s pro-business approach.
The administration’s pledge to reduce regulatory barriers could ease scrutiny on Tesla’s autonomous driving systems, which are currently under investigation by U.S. road safety regulators.
Trump’s stance on labor practices could also favor Musk, who has faced complaints from the United Auto Workers over labor policies at Tesla.
