Casablanca – The Ferran Torres transfer saga has gained momentum in recent hours at Paris Saint-Germain. The Spanish striker is in advanced talks with the Parisian club, where Luis Enrique has made him one of his priorities following the departure of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and the expected departure of Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus. This Saturday morning, several reports emerged that the European champions had reached an agreement with the Spanish international for a move this summer.
While Barcelona won’t oppose his departure, the Catalan club’s management intends to defend its interests. In Catalonia, it’s believed that Ferran Torres retains significant market value despite sometimes limited playing time. With one year left on his contract, Barça doesn’t want to risk losing him for free in twelve months. Initial discussions regarding an extension have been tentative, and if the player does indeed choose PSG, the Blaugrana will be open to a move provided all parties are satisfied.
The main sticking point now concerns the transfer fee. FC Barcelona is demanding €50 million and has no intention of lowering its demands. For its part, PSG are reportedly expected to submit an opening bid of €45 million, including bonuses, and will therefore have to make a further effort to convince the Catalan club to sell him, although Barça will need to sell players to continue its transfer activity after the arrival of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.
Before any progress can be made between the two clubs, Ferran Torres must first officially inform Barcelona of his desire to leave. A sale would provide a financial boost to the Catalans, who then hope to accelerate several other deals, notably that of Julián Álvarez, considered a priority to strengthen the attack, while remaining attentive to a possible opportunity to recruit a second striker since Barcelona also lost Robert Lewandowski and Ansu Fati this summer.
