Rabat – A new partnership between ABL Aviation and Embraer demonstrates Morocco’s prominence in the aerospace sector, with the country emerging as a key aerospace hub.
A statement from ABL Aviation, a global aircraft company with headquarters in Casablanca, said last week that the company announced a $400 million financing facility dedicated to supporting Embraer’s E-Jet E2 program.
The investment will provide Brazilian airline Embraer’s customers with “enhanced and more affordable” financing options for E2 deliveries, the statement said.
The two companies secured the partnership during the Marrakech Air Show, which Morocco hosted from October 31 to November 2.
“The ABL-Embraer partnership highlights Morocco’s emergence as a key aerospace hub,” the press release said, noting that the North African country provides access to the continent’s rapidly growing travel and cargo markets.
Both companies have emphasized their determination to unlock new opportunities in Morocco and worldwide. Their plans extend to bespoke financing for E2 deliveries, as well as parts procurement and other tailored financing solutions to meet Embrarer’s airline customers.
CEO of ABL Aviation, Ali Ben Lmadani, commented on the partnership in the statement, saying that the company is “excited about working with Embraer to support deliveries of the impressive E2 family of aircraft.”
Ben Lmadani added that the company is proud to play a role in the industry’s transformation by helping expand access to “one of the most sustainable, reliable, and well designed narrow-body aircraft classes on the market.”
In addition to ABL Aviation, the Brazilian airline also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Morocco on the sidelines of the Marrakech Air Show.
The MoU aims to open venues for cooperation in commercial aviation, defense, and urban air mobility, providing a framework for building an integrated sourcing ecosystem in Morocco.
The aviation industry is a key sector in Morocco’s economy.
The North African country aims to double employment in this sector by 2030. The sector has reached an overall integration rate exceeding 40%.
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Morocco’s aviation industry is a key economic driver for the country.
At a conference that the organization held in October, IATA officials commended the sector’s growth, noting that air travel to Morocco surged by 68% over the past decade, with more than 12.4 million passengers last year.
The same year also witnessed a good performance in terms of export of goods and services facilitated by the country’s aviation system, accounting for nearly 44% of Morocco’s GDP.
The number represents a 20% point increase over the last 63 years.
