Rabat – Russia’s ambassador to Morocco Vladimir Baybakov spoke recently of his country’s appreciation of Morocco’s measured approach on the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In an interview with TASS, Baybakov said Russia “highly values Morocco’s balanced position on the Ukrainian events as well as Rabat’s refusal to engage in anti-Russian actions related to this issue,” he said.
He also commended the bilateral ties between the two countries, describing Morocco as a friendly and a strategic partner.
“The special nature of our relations has been cemented by agreements signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and King Mohammed VI,” he said, noting that the two countries share a good relationship built on a strong foundation.
“Russia and Morocco continue to address all issues constructively in a spirit of cooperation and for the benefit of the peoples of both countries,” Baybakov noted, acknowledging the impact of Western sanctions on Moscow amid the war in Ukraine.
He also highlighted the active political dialogue between Moscow and Rabat, including Morocco’s participation in the ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum that took place in Sochi in November.
Morocco and Russia continue to maintain good diplomatic relations, reaffirming their determination to boost mutual cooperation through continued political dialogue and the exchange of visits.
Both countries have committed to fostering their strategic partnership in various fields, reflecting a shared vision for stability and cooperation.
Morocco has long embraced a principled policy of non-interference in the domestic affairs of other countries, consistently advocating for peaceful resolutions of conflicts and disputes.
This approach emphasizes sharing concerns about regional security and post-conflict conditions without meddling or interfering in the sovereignty of others.
