Rabat– Agadir Al Massira Airport has experienced impressive growth, surpassing 2.8 million passengers in the first eleven months of 2024. This represents a 36% increase compared to the previous year, underscoring the airport’s rising status as a popular destination for both domestic and international travelers.

In addition to the surge in passenger traffic, the airport recorded a notable rise in flight movements, with 19,620 arrivals and departures in 2024. This marks a 29% increase in flight activity, further emphasizing the airport’s expanding role in driving economic development and tourism in the region.

As Morocco’s third-largest airport by air traffic, behind the Marrakech-Menara International Airport and Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Agadir Al Massira now accounts for 10% of the nation’s total air traffic.

To support this growth, the National Airports Authority (ONDA) is overseeing an ambitious expansion project. The initiative aims to increase the airport’s capacity from 2.6 million to 7 million passengers annually, solidifying Agadir Al Massira’s position as a key regional aviation hub.

This expansion is part of broader efforts to upgrade the airport’s infrastructure and meet the rising demand for travel. Ongoing investments reflect Agadir Al Massira’s critical role in strengthening Morocco’s appeal as a top tourist destination.

Earlier this year, Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT) launched the Light Tour, a promotional campaign across four Scandinavian countries to promote Agadir as a premier destination.

The campaign targeted travel influencers, agents, and hoteliers in key Scandinavian capitals, including Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, and Stockholm. ONMT highlighted Agadir’s central role in its tourism strategy, reaching out to over 150 Scandinavian operators to boost the city’s visibility.

As Agadir Al Massira continues to evolve, the airport is poised to remain a key driver of the region’s tourism industry, enhancing connectivity and supporting economic growth in Agadir and the surrounding areas.
