Rabat – Nabil El Halfawy, one of Egypt’s most beloved actors, has passed away at the age of 77, following a recent severe health crisis linked to chest complications.
Reports indicate that El Halfawy, whose career spanned several decades, was hospitalized in intensive care in the days leading up to his death, with his condition rapidly worsening in his final hours.
In an emotional post on his official X account, El Halfawy’s sons shared the news: “This tweet was not written by the captain himself. We, the sons of Walid and Khaled El Halfawy, share that our father’s prayers were answered. He did not endure a prolonged illness, as he had always prayed for this. God granted his wish. We thank you all for your love and prayers. The funeral prayer will be held today, Sunday, December 15, at the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed, following the evening prayer.”
El Halfawy gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Nadim Hashim, an Egyptian intelligence officer, in the critically acclaimed series “Raafat Al-Hagan”, which aired in the 1980s and 1990s, cementing his status as a leading figure in Egyptian television.
Renowned for his commanding presence and distinctive voice, he excelled in serious, military roles, including a standout performance as a naval officer in the 1993 film “The Road to Eilat”, which dramatized Egypt’s commando operations during the 1969 military conflict.
The news of his passing has sparked an outpouring of sorrow, with tributes flooding social media platforms.
