Princess Lalla Hasnaa and Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Al-Thani presided over a special dinner on Wednesday at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, held in honor of the guests attending the “Caftan Fashion Show.”

Both Lalla Hasnaa and Sheikha Al Mayassa received warm welcoming by Shaikha Nasser Al-Nassr, the museum’s Director General.

The two royals celebrated the creativity of traditional Moroccan haute couture as part of the Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture 2024.

The fashion show celebrates ten Moroccan caftan designers.

The collections are inspired by the ghazal poetry and Arabic calligraphy, featuring artists and designers like Amine Benmoussa, Yasmina Benyahia, Frederique Birkemeyer, Myriam Bouafi, Maison Sara Chraibi, Nalae Diori and Zineb Joundy.

The list of designers also includes Fouzia Naciri, Albert Oiknine and Houda Serbouti, who dedicated their collections to Moroccan craftsmanship.

The Qatar Morocco Year of Culture reflects the good and bilateral relationship between Doha and Rabat.

In recent years, the two countries have frequently emphasized determination to boost bilateral ties.

Last year in August, King Mohammed VI sent the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, a letter in which he stressed Morocco’s undying readiness to continue boosting bilateral ties with Qatar. .

Increasingly boosting their bilateral ties, the two countries cooperate at different levels, including political dialogue, and security.

In February this year, Qatari and Moroccan officials discussed relations between the two countries and emphasized determination to boost cooperation at the parliamentary level.

Qatar is among the growing cohort of  Arab countries that have repeatedly renewed support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for Western Sahara.

In October, Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar’s representative to the UN, reiterated his country’s support for Morocco’s autonomy initiative, describing it as a “constructive initiative” and an “objective” basis for a realistic and sustainable solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara dispute.

He also expressed support for the UN-led political process and efforts seeking to facilitate a sustainable political solution through compromise and  within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.
