Rabat – Turkish club Galatasaray announced on Tuesday that Moroccan talent  Hakim Ziyech will be leaving the team.

“Thank you, Hakim Ziyech, for your efforts and contributions to Galatasaray! Wishing you success in your new journey!” the club said on their social media.

The former Chelsea player was originally meant to stay on with the Turkish team until June 2025, but a series of unfortunate circumstances have led to his early departure.

Recent reports suggested that the player is on the radars of several clubs, including Napoli, Lille, and Al Duhail. Sports journalist Fabrizio Romani reported yesterday that Ziyech has reached a verbal agreement with Qatar-based club Al Duhail.

Meanwhile, Emirati outlets reported that Ziyech had reached an agreement with Al Nasr to join the club on a free transfer.

The Moroccan player is set to announce his next destination very soon as the winter transfer window comes to an end.

Ziyech joined Galatasaray in August 2023 on loan from Chelsea before signing for the Turkish side on a permanent basis in June 2024.

However, the 31-year-old midfielder sustained many injuries this season on both his MCL and ACL, which kept him out of several matches. As a result, he was not a key part of coach Okan Buruk’s plans, which made him extremely dissatisfied with his role in the team.

He recently said he did not want to play for the club anymore, according to journalist Haluk Yurekli, who quoted him as saying: “Galatasaray is over for me. I don’t want to play here anymore. I’m leaving in January.”

He also took aim at the club’s manager, saying: “I’ve never seen a coach of such a low level.”
