Rabat – The Atlantic coastline between Cap Spartel and Tarfaya will face perilous waves on Thursday, the Ministry of Equipment and Water announced today.
Wave heights are expected to range from 4 to 6.5 meters, with intervals between 10 and 15 seconds.
The ministry noted that the most intense surf conditions will occur on Thursday morning and afternoon, particularly between Mahdia and Safi.
High tides of 2.90 to 3.90 meters are forecast early in the morning, from 3:30 to 4:00 a.m. local time, and later in the afternoon, from 3:50 to 4:30 p.m.
These tides coincide with strong gusts, potentially exceeding the average wind speed by 40%, according to Beaufort scale measurements.
Authorities expect conditions to improve gradually, starting Friday morning, January 31, north of Cap Ghir. Southern coasts should see calmer seas by Saturday morning, February 1.
The ministry plans to issue further updates through its weather bulletins.
Residents and maritime operators are strongly urged to exercise extra caution and stay informed by regularly checking official weather updates.
Morocco has been grappling with a series of harsh weather patterns, including cold temperatures and periodic rain across various regions.
In addition to this, strong winds and dust storms have been prevalent in recent weeks, further complicating the situation.
As rough seas are expected along the Atlantic coast, it is crucial for individuals, especially those involved in maritime activities, to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions.
