Rabat – The Rotaract Club Hippocrate from the Casablanca Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy will host its first Rota’Run, a charity running event.
The sporting event will take place on February 2 at Bouskoura Forest and will raise funds to help Moroccans in the earthquake-impacted region of Al Haouz, near Marrakech.
The event organizers say the funds will be used for a medical-humanitarian caravan and to renovate a school in the Al Haouz region.
The organizers add that the initiative promises a tangible community impact and reflects the solidarity side of Moroccan society.
The event offers two race distances to accommodate different fitness levels with a 5-kilometer route for beginners and a 10-kilometer contest for more experienced runners.
Registration is MAD 200 ($20), and interested runners can purchase tickets through a form on the website.
The event is designed as such each participant is effectively a humanitarian actor, transforming every stride into meaningful community support.
The runners will have access to water stations and dynamic activities like professional warm-up sessions and music entertainment.
There will be an ambulance on-site if needed, and police will be on stand-by to ensure safety and control.
The Rota’Run represents more than a sporting event — it’s a celebration of collective engagement and social responsibility, engaging runners to make a difference through athletic participation.

A strong magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit the Al Haouz region in September of 2023, killing nearly 3,000 people and injuring over 4,600 others. The natural disaster also destroyed or gravely damaged nearly 60,000 buildings in the region.
The catastrophe triggered an outpouring of support from the larger Moroccan community, both at home and abroad, to show solidarity with those affected.
This sporting initiative is yet another example of how Moroccan citizens are committed to supporting their communities in dire need.
A 2024 survey by the World Giving Index from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) cited that the country’s financial donations saw an 800% increase in 2023. The survey was conducted right after the Al Haouz earthquake, reflecting the generosity of the Moroccan people.
