Rabat – Morocco has ranked as one of Africa’s safest countries, according to travel agency Altezza Travel.
The ranking placed the North African country in fifth spot, attributing its ability to maintain a “stable political environment, developed financial markets, and infrastructure.”
Altezza Travel selected eight countries as the safest in Africa based on various reports and assigned each country a point. The analysis was based on several rankings, including indexes on Global Peace, Global Terrorism, KOF Globalisation, Crime, Global Safety, and Human Development.
The report noted that “in the Peace Index, Morocco outperforms Nepal, France, China, and nearly a hundred other nations.”
It added that the country’s terrorism influence is zero, and its crime rate is lower than the UK, the US, New Zealand, and Sweden. In the Global Terrorism Index, Morocco maintains a minimal risk level, with zero incidents recorded in recent years.
In comparison, other African countries, such as Burkina Faso, are struggling with rising security concerns due to ongoing terrorism-related incidents.
The travel agency further stated that “in UN assessments, Morocco ranks among the leaders in Africa and the entire Eastern region.”
The country is known worldwide as a safe travel destination that attracts millions of tourists each year.
Leading the ranking is Mauritius as the safest country in Africa due to its low crime rate, political stability, and economic conditions. It is followed by Ghana in second place and Zambia in third. Meanwhile, Namibia claimed the fourth spot.
Wrapping up the ranking are Tunisia in sixth spot, with Egypt and Tanzania claiming seventh and eighth positions, respectively.
