Rabat – A recent survey by Sunergia has revealed that a majority of Moroccans are optimistic about 2025, despite the ongoing challenges the country faces.
The survey, which examined public sentiment on various sectors and development priorities, found that 78% of respondents are optimistic about this year, with 69% expressing strong optimism.
Women and younger people, particularly those aged 18 to 24, were the most hopeful, with optimism levels reaching 83% in both groups. Meanwhile, only 65% of seniors aged 65 and older shared this sentiment.
The survey showed that residents of southern Morocco displayed the highest optimism levels at 80%, compared to 73% in the northeastern regions.
The survey also explored public perceptions on specific sectors and their expected progress in 2025. While a majority of respondents anticipated improvements in tourism (77%), technology (74%), and industry (69%), other sectors such as health, education, and employment raised concerns.
More than a third of Moroccans (36%) predicted a deterioration in healthcare, with urban residents expressing more concern (39%). In addition, 33% expect a deterioration in education, especially regarding the quality of teaching. Employment was another area of apprehension, with 29% fearing further deterioration in job opportunities.
When asked which sectors they believe will most significantly impact Morocco’s development in 2025, respondents identified tourism as the leading driver at 22%, followed by agriculture at 20%.
Education and health were seen as equally critical, garnering 19% and 17% of votes, respectively. Industry came next at 16%, while technology, infrastructure, and employment each received 9%.
The survey also shed light on the public’s views regarding the key priorities for accelerating Morocco’s development. The top recommendation was investing in education and youth training, cited by 33% of respondents.
Improving the healthcare system was another significant concern, with 25% identifying it as a priority. Other areas of focus included developing infrastructure (10%), creating more job opportunities (8%), and supporting agriculture (7%).
