Rabat — Argentina is set to meet Mexico today in the first quarter-final game of the Kings World Cup Nations. The match starts at 7 p.m. Moroccan time. Fans can catch the action live on the Kings League YouTube channels.
Mexico has a prolific attacking setup. In three games, they scored 16 goals while conceding 11. The Mexicans lost 4-2 to the Americans in the first round, but went on to cruise past Saudi Arabia 8-4 and beat Germany 6-3.
Obed Martinez is the man to watch for Mexico after he has won two MVPs so far. He scored seven goals to date and set up two assists in three appearances.
On the other hand, Argentina has been undefeated so far in the competition. They started the tournament strong winning 4-2 against Spain and clinched a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Japan.
The Argentinian team is ranked among the lowest-scoring teams in the tournament, but at the same time, they are pretty solid at the back.
Sergio Kun Aguero is the player to watch. The superstar veteran hasn’t played a single game so far, but he is expected to enter the fray in today’s game.
Both teams are eager to qualify for the semi-finals to be played next Friday, January 10.
The Kings League was founded by former Barcelona star Gerard Piqué and the streamer Ibai Llanos. The games combine amateur players, professionals, and veterans for a fresh change from traditional leagues in an unconventional footballing setup.
Games have two 20-minute halves and ties are decided by penalty shootouts.
Each team has 10 players — 7 on the field and 3 substitutes, including a possible guest player.
