Rabat – Younes Arsalane, a notorious member of the underground crime network in the Netherlands, was found dead in a garage hallway in Osdorp, Amsterdam on December 30 after a neighbor discovered the body.
Officers arrested a 20-year-old suspect in Hoofddorp on Friday.
Arsalane is nicknamed “Snow Moroccan” and “Ninja’s little brother” and was part of Amsterdam’s underground crime network. His older brother Youssef, known as “Ninja,” drowned in 2013.
Arsalane had a long criminal history.
From a young age, the 33-year-old carried out violent robberies, including a burglary in Amsterdam in 2013 and a jeweller’s hold-up in The Hague. Police say he later became close to key figures in the gang of Gwenette Martha, a Dutch drug lord killed in 2014.
Martha’s group had a bloody feud with a rival gang led by Salim B., known as “the Serpent.” Investigators say this vendetta escalated into a wave of violence.
Arsalane planned ATM bombings and robberies along with his childhood friend Anouar G. to fund criminal activities. according to the justice system. However, a court later acquitted him of direct involvement in gang murders.
While in his 20s, Arsalane was once arrested with four kilos of cocaine but avoided charges. Authorities believed he was part of a network planning killings, but the court found no solid evidence.
Detectives believe the shooting may be linked to ongoing gang conflicts in Amsterdam. The investigation into his murder continues.
