Rabat – Paris Saint-Germain are set to take on AS Monaco in the French Super Cup today, January 5, as PSG’s players will be wearing jerseys featuring Arabic writing for the first time since the Qataris took over the Ligue 1 club in 2011.
The game starts at 5:30 p.m. Moroccan time at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar.
In a statement published on their website, PSG said: “This collaboration continues a successful partnership with Fatma Al Sharshani, who previously worked with Paris Saint-Germain in March 2023. Today, the artist returns with a unique design that celebrates identity and cultural heritage.”
“This special lettering will also be available to purchase for five player names – Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves and Vitinha in our online store and in the official Paris Saint-Germain stores in Doha,” the French club added.
PSG has previously used Korean and Mandarin letters on their kits.

On the pitch, Hakimi meets Eliesse Ben Sghir for the second time this season. PSG had the upper hand in their encounter on December 18, beating Monaco 4-2 away. Ben Sghir scored a penalty in the 53rd minute, while his Moroccan countrymen teed up Désiré Doué for PSG to strike first in the game after a blitzing run.
Ben Sghir has been linked lately to a January transfer move to FC Barcelona after a stellar season so far winning three Ligue 1 MVPs Player of the Month with Monaco.
The 19-year-old winger will be looking to win his first trophy with Monaco, while Achraf Hakimi aims to add his seventh title to his PSG trophy cabinet, including a third Super Cup.
