Rabat – FAR Rabat has urged supporters to avoid using pyros and lasers during their upcoming Champions League games at home to avoid fines the Confederation of African Football (CAF) would impose on the club.
In a statement published on their social media accounts, the Royal Army Football Team said: “In our commitment to protect the club’s reputation and its athletic standing both nationally and continentally, we stress the importance of complete discipline in stadiums to avoid any sanctions that might be imposed on the club and negatively impact its progress.
The statement also reminded fans that “the use of flares, laser beams, or throwing objects inside the stadium are strictly prohibited by sports authorities and could lead to severe penalties, including playing future matches behind closed doors.”
After the game against Mamelodi Sundowns on December 7, CAF fined the Rabat-based club $5,000 (Over MAD 50,000) after fans used smoke bombs and lit up pyros during the Champions League fixture.
The CAF Disciplinary Board also penalised FAR Rabat $10,000 (over MAD 100,000) for the use of lasers during the game.

FAR Rabat asked supporters to remain role models for responsible support and to maintain an exceptional and honourable atmosphere in the stands in a way that reflects the club’s prestigious position.
CAF Champions League is back this week as group leaders FAR Rabat hosts Maniema Union from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The game kicks-off next Saturday, January 4, at 8 p.m. and will be held at the Stade d’Honneur in Meknes.
The Leaders would make the most of the home-ground advantage to clinch the three crucial points to cement their position at the top of the group and edge closer to qualifying for the knockout stage.
