Rabat – Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has been named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season for the first half of the campaign following stellar performances in the French league.
This season, Hakimi has quite improved his game under Luis Enrique, who has transformed the Moroccan into one of Europe’s most complete players and named him PSG’s vice-captain. Hakimi was also awarded a contract extension with the French capital’s team until 2029.
Hakimi’s tactical role at PSG is no longer confined to the right flank. The Moroccan right-back now roams the pitch, creating chances for strikers and disrupting opponents’ defensive setups with his superior attacking flair and blistering speed.
Numbers do back Hakimi up. In the 21 games the Atlas Lion has played so far in Ligue 1 this season, he has scored three goals and provided seven assists.

Hakimi’s journey began when he joined Real Madrid’s youth academy, La Fábrica, at the age of eight. He made his professional debut in 2017, but got very little playing time with the Los Blancos.
In 2018, Hakimi decided to relocate to Borussia Dortmund of the Bundesliga on a two-year loan.
After a successful spell in Germany, Hakimi joined Inter Milan on a permanent deal for €40 million and won the Italian Serie A title under Antonio Conte. Achraf felt quite at ease in Conte’s attacking setup and racked up seven goals and 11 assists in the 2020/2021 season.
His performances in Italy have subsequently caught the eye of the Paris Saint-Germain board, who signed him in 2021 for a reported €60 million.
