Rabat – A halal butcher shop in Bobigny, France has been closed since New Year’s eve “until further notice,” after food inspectors found wild boar meat on the premises, according to the French media outlet Le Parisien.
The shop, located on Avenue Jean-Jaurès, claimed to be 100% halal. However, inspectors found the shop to have breached many health standards including “proliferation of pests,” “poor hygiene,” and improper food storage.
Still, the biggest shock came when they discovered wild boar. Officials found 14 wild boar carcasses and seized vacuum-packed pieces of the meat in the fridge. None had the mandatory veterinary stamps.

Locals are furious. Leance, a regular customer, said, “There is no respect for our religion.” She is considering filing a complaint. “He welcomed us with a smile, and then he did this to us?”
Students passing by the shop voiced their disbelief. “We bought chicken wings for 50 cents. The whole school came here,” said one. Another added, “Honestly, it’s ridiculous.”
The owner has a long history of trouble with food officials. The shop was first closed in 2021 and then in 2023 for similar violations. With his reputation tarnished, many residents say they avoided it altogether: “It stinks. It’s dirty. The meat is black,” one said.
For now, the shop remains closed with tape marked “SEIZURE” that draws onlookers. Many were curious after seeing the news on social media.
