Rabat – Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch chaired today the 7th session of the National Investment Commission (CNI) in Rabat.
This commission operates under the new Investment Charter, which has been in effect since March 2023.
The commission has met 14 times since the start of the current government term, indicating Morocco’s unprecedented pace in speeding up its sectoral growth process.
Ministers from various sectors also attended today’s meeting, including Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, and Mohamed Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, among many others.
The session saw the approval of 17 investment agreements and two amendments, totaling nearly MAD 4.3 billion ($430 million).
These initiatives seek to create about 5,500 jobs, including 3,900 direct positions and 1,600 indirect ones.

The approved projects span 14 provinces and prefectures in seven regions, some of which are Beni Mellal, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan, and cover a diverse range of sectors such as tourism, renewable energy, agribusiness, automotive, packaging, lighting, and outsourcing.
Tourism stands out as the leading sector for job creation in Morocco, with 42% of the total employment opportunities, followed by automotive at 24%, agribusiness at 13%, and outsourcing at 8%.
The commission also approved three strategic projects in the textile and leather, metallurgy, and telecommunications sectors, with a total investment of MAD 13 billion ($1.3 billion).
These initiatives are expected to create around 21,500 direct and indirect jobs in the regions of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and Rabat-Sale-Kenitra.
Morocco has become an attractive destination for investment, Akhnnouch said. He credited this momentum to the steady rise of private sector initiatives. In addition, he argued that government efforts, particularly in tourism, have continued to encourage investors.
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Monday, the Head of Government expressed deep pride in Morocco’s tourism success.
As he spoke with visible satisfaction about his government’s “achievements,” Akhnnouch especially drew attention to the fact that Morocco welcomed over 17 million visitors in 2024, surpassing its 2026 targets two years ahead of schedule.
This indicates commendable efforts by both the government and the national tourism office and signals similarly positive figures in the near future, he suggested.
