Rabat – AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim sees Noussair Mazraoui as a favorite player, with reports hinting that the manager wants a reunion with the Atlas Lion.
Sports journalist Matteo Moretto said the former Manchester United coach wants to reunite with Mazraoui, whom he admires.
Moretto made his comments on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, stating that Mazraoui “is one of Amorim’s favorite players.”
“At the moment, there are no negotiations underway and no direct contact between the clubs.”
Mazraoui is under contract with his Premier League club, Manchester United, until 2028, with an option to extend.
“What I can say is that Mazraoui is a player Amorim values highly. We’ll see whether Milan moves for him later in the transfer window.”
The journalist stated that he is only now conveying the manager’s appreciation of the player, as he really likes Mazraoui’s qualities.
Amorim left Manchester United six months ago, in January. He joined Manchester United in November 2024 and led the team to the UEFA Europa League final.
Mazraoui has continued to mesmerize the world, especially after his historic World Cup run with the Atlas Lions at the US-Canada-Mexico edition.
Mazraoui, known as “El Hajj” among Moroccan fans, made spectacular performances during the tournament, contributing to the national team’s defensive line and Morocco’s honorable performance in the competition.
Mazraoui joined Manchester United in 2024, making his debut for the Reds in the Premier League win over Fulham on the opening day of the 2024-2025 season.
“The Morocco international showcased his versatility under Erik ten Hag and then Ruben Amorim, making 57 appearances across a variety of positions, including full-back, wing-back, centre-back and even as a number 10,” according to Manchester United, which also recalled how he came second in the Players’ Player of the Year vote.
Manchester United also emphasized how Mazraoui provides flexibility for the club and Morocco, as he occupies the left-back role for Morocco during elite tournaments, including the World Cup.
