Schalke 04 has secured the signing of Aymen Barkok from Mainz, just in time for the winter transfer window.
The German side confirmed the move on social media, revealing Barkok will stay until the end of the season and wear the number 25 shirt.
“I’m thrilled to have this chance to show what I can do at Schalke,” said Barkok to the press. “I’m ready to give my best and help the team as much as I can.”
Barkok started his career at local clubs before joining Eintracht Frankfurt’s youth academy in 2013. He made his professional debut in the Bundesliga in 2016, scoring a goal in his first match.
After a season with limited appearances, he was loaned to Fortuna DĂĽsseldorf in 2018, where he gained valuable experience. He returned to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2020, enjoying a more prominent role, and in 2022, transferred to 1. FSV Mainz 05.
At the international level, Barkok represented Germany at youth levels but made the switch to Morocco in 2020. He debuted for the national team in a 3-1 victory over Senegal and scored his first goal for Morocco in 2021.
