Rabat – Adam Aznou is packing his bags for Spain. The 18-year-old Moroccan left-back is on the verge of joining league-bottom Real Valladolid on a loan deal until the end of the season without a buy option.
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the two clubs have agreed on a deal, with his medicals scheduled for today before sealing the move.
The teenager joined Bayern from Barcelona’s La Masia academy in 2022 and is seen as one of the brightest defensive talents in Europe. But with first-team chances limited at the German giant, he’s chasing more playing time in La Liga.
For Valladolid, this is a desperate gamble to save their season. The club is at rock bottom of the league, sitting 20th with eight points adrift of safety. Their defence has been leaking goals, and they’re hoping Aznou can help plug the gaps.
At just 18, Aznou is already turning heads. Known for his pace, technical skills, and composure on the ball, he’s got the potential to become a prolific attack-minded left-back. This loan move could be the perfect chance for him to prove himself in a competitive league.
Adam Aznou Ben Cheikh was born in Spain, but he chose to represent Morocco at the international level.
His football journey started with CF Damm before he joined La Masia Academy in 2019. Seeking more opportunities, he made a bold move to Bayern Munich in 2022 and signed his first professional contract in May 2024, in a deal that runs until 2027.
Later that year, he made his first-team debut on November 2 during Bayern’s 3-0 win over Union Berlin. A month later, he made his UEFA Champions League debut against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Aznou started his international career playing for Spain’s U16 and U17 teams. But in 2023, he decided to switch allegiance to Morocco instead. His choice was rewarded last September when he got his first call-up to Morocco’s senior team and made his international debut in a match against Lesotho during the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
